On the belly side of the nock, file or sand two grooves to help the string track better.

To improve the look and performance of the bow a little, cut or grind the edges down to a point. This is about as much material as you want to remove, as the tip will lose strength if the edges are cut through too far.

You can see the gap from where the edges of the pipe were cut through. This is about as far as you should go or the nock may snap or collapse permanently.

Finish up the nock on the other limb and then the bow is ready to be strung for the first time.
